Christie: 4K Projector and Brightest 110V Projectors

  • PDF

Christie Twist

Christie expands its 3-chip DLP platform with the introduction of the Christie D4K25, and new 14,000 lumen Christie M Series models. The new projectors target a variety of applications that require high brightness, superior performance and vivid, clear images.

The popular M Series – including three new Roadster models and three 3D-enabled Mirage models – feature SXGA+, HD and WUXGA resolution, portrait mode capabilities, and 14,000 lumens – the highest brightness available at 110V. The projectors are designed for auditoriums, boardrooms, conference rooms, houses of worship, post-production, and live event applications that need the reliability of 3-chip DLP technology and high brightness for piercing through ambient lighting.

Featuring built-in Christie Twist [impact shown in photo], the new M Series models are equipped with two hot swappable mercury lamps for additional cost savings since the high brightness is achieved with two lamps instead of four.

The Christie D4K25 targets high resolution markets including amusement parks, automotive designers, planetariums, and applications where native 4K resolution for precision image detail is critical. Featuring the ability to use different lamp powers – extending lamp life and reducing cost of ownership – the Christie D4K25 is equipped with automated image alignment for maximum lamp output and brightness.

The Christie D4K25 and the new M Series models have a three-year parts and labour warranty and ship in July 2012.

BDL4771V

MMD (worldwide exclusive marketer and reseller for Philips-branded LCD monitors and public signage displays) launches a 47” LCD digital signage display, the BDL4771V.

“This new 47” display comes with a host of connectivity options that deliver not just an amazing picture quality but also an extremely high performance,” says Wilfred de Man, Sales and Marketing Director for MMD’s Public Signage Display division for EMEA. “Thanks to the narrow bezel on this model, it is also ideal for affordable high definition digital video walls.”

Users can enjoy HD video walls with HD up to nine units in a 3 x 3 configuration, thanks to DVI loop-through. With the implementation of a video splitter, that can increase still further.

With all of the features that are standard on the V-series of Philips brand Public Information Displays (including exceptionally low power consumption), the BDL4771V incorporates Smart Insert, which allows the user to slide in a small form factor media player on the rear of the panel without increasing the overall depth of the display.

700 nit brightness ensures that the viewing quality can be enjoyed in areas of relatively high ambient brightness.

In addition to the low costs of use, the display can be controlled and configured via an RJ45 network cable, as well as by HDMI, which can simultaneously send audio and video signals to the display, cutting down on the need for additional cables. Video can also be streamed via a display port, which allows better video streaming of 1080p video quality over multiple displays.

The new BDL4771V will be available from early July 2012 through all MMD business partners in the EMEA region.

Projection Summit

Insight Media produces the Projection Summit event just before InfoComm. Analyst Chris Chinnock shares a few of the highlights of the event.

  • Christie CTO Paul Salvini used his keynote address to point to many of the advances coming in projection, noting the segment is far from static, with innovations in light sources, frame rates, resolution, wireless, interactivity, collaboration and novel applications driving progress.
  • Laser projectors have been in the news recently and attendees gained new insight into the capabilities of these laser devices and the benefits of using them in projection solutions from Laser Light Engines, Necsel and Modulight. These solutions will take time to enter the market, but look very promising at this stage of development.

SiliconCore

SiliconCore Technology brought a 1.9-mm pitch LED for indoor applications to InfoComm.

Using a "low power" LED Driver integrated circuit developed by SiliconCore itself, the company says the product can drive up to 128 RGB (Red-Green-Blue) LED pixels (thus equaling 177 pixels per square inch).

SiliconCore also says it offers ghost image elimination, true 16-bit color, drastic reduction of EMI (Electromagnetic Interference) emissions and scan refresh rates of up to 16 KHz.

Delta Videowall

Delta Displays introduced new LED-based video wall cubes, available in 50”, 67”, 70” and 72” diagonal sizes with resolutions ranging from XGA to WUXGA.

Delta’s rear-screen projection video wall cubes are aimed at control rooms, network operation centers, management centers and many other mission-critical environments where 24/7/365 display are required in high ambient light environments.

Delta claims they include a unique color sensor which ensures superior color and brightness uniformity automatically across the entire seamless video wall screen. Sounds like these are meant to compete with Christie MicroTiles.

WX6000

Canon Europe extends its XEED range of installation projectors with the launch of the SX6000 and the WX6000. These new projectors offer high brightness (6000 and 5700 lumens respectively), a range of lens options – including a new Ultra Long Zoom lens – and features to make installation and maintenance as straightforward as possible.

The new models fit a broad range of corporate, exhibition and education environments, where a permanently installed high brightness projector is required. The SX6000 has native SXGA+ resolution (1400 x 1050 pixels) with a 4:3 aspect ratio, while the WX6000 offers WXGA+ resolution (1440 x 900 pixels) and has a 16:10 aspect ratio.

Canon’s XEED SX6000 and WX6000 benefit from an updated version of Canon’s proprietary AISYS technology and a new LCOS display panel. Both projectors will be compatible with a new Ultra Long Zoom lens (available from Q4 2012), in addition to Canon’s existing lens line-up.

The new lens has a 1.95x zoom, offering a range of throw distances between 7.6 and 15 metres for a standard 100” image. In addition, projection distances of up to 88 metres are possible, for a maximum diagonal image size of 600”.

Julian Rutland, Visual Communication Products and Solutions Director, Canon Europe says, “The addition of the SX6000 and WX6000 to Canon’s XEED installation range means that there is now a Canon solution for system integrators and end users looking for extra brightness to add impact to displays, or a projector that offers outstanding performance in larger venues...”

Both will be available in Q4 2012. Medical versions of both (complete with DICOM Preset image mode) will become available shortly afterwards. The Ultra Long Zoom lens will be available in Q4 2012 and will be compatible with the all Canon XEED installation models.
