MDS: Proof of Performance Plus Remote Management

  • PDF

MDS

At the upcoming at Screen Media Expo 2010 in London, Minicom Digital Signage (MDS) will demonstrate the first Remote Device Management solution with Proof of Performance capabilities.

The solution features a unique Media Feedback Mechanism for Proof of Performance so advertisers in DooH networks can validate and audit advertising to for quantity and quality of the broadcasted ad.

The proprietary RDM technology enables reliable remote monitoring and control of display assets of any DS and DooH network, and marks the conceptualization of managed displays. Operators can reduce system downtime and improve visibility.

The technology enables automatic triggering of support call so network operators can intervene to reduce operational expenses and TCO.

Smart-e's range of CAT* extenders (CAT* refers to CAT 5, 5e, 6, 7 and 8 structured cabling) is specifically designed for the digital signage market.

The transmitter options are available in three output types: Single output (SLX-TX711), Triple output (SLX-TX713), and Five output (SLX-TX715), each compatible with the compact receiver SLX-RX711. Paired together the equipment provides a compact solution that extends video and audio transmission up to 100m on CAT* cabling.

The design is based on, and compatible with, Smart-e's SLX-400 CAT* extender range supporting high res video up to 1280x1024 featuring sync format, polarity preservation, video looping input, in line power for receivers, and a secure DC connection. A rack mounting kit is also available.

EXTRON: Industry's First Universal Twisted Pair Transmitter

  • PDF

If you haven’t seen it yet, Extron introduced the MTP U T A D, universal MTP twisted pair transmitter with multiple video and audio inputs that can be installed in any two-gang Decora-style wallplate.

The MTP U T A D eliminates the need for multiple transmitter units and multiple cables for each source, and dramatically reduces the number of matrix switcher inputs required. A single universal transmitter and receiver pair can replace up to four individual dedicated transmitters and four individual dedicated receivers.

It offers dedicated inputs for VGA, HD component, S-video, and composite video with audio, and automatically switches to the active source, transmitting the signal over a single CAT 5-type cable.

Integration friendly features include EDID emulation, auto-input switching, contact closure remote control for input selection, buffered local monitor output, and switchable video output pre-peaking.

The MTP U T A D Universal Transmitter is compatible with all Extron MTP Series Twisted Pair products, including receivers, distribution amplifiers, switchers, and matrix switchers, to create a wide range of simple and complex A/V systems. You can also use this in twisted pair applications that require support for multiple video formats and audio.

DA2DVI-Pro, Lightware's 4-in-1 Distribution Amp

Lightwave 4-in-1

A handy device for system integrators, rental technicians and AV professionals, this small box from Lightwave Visual Engineering includes an EDID Emulator, a Cable Extender, a 1 input / 2 output Single Link DVI Distribution Amplifier and a DVI Signal Reclocker.

This EDID Manager stores and emulates 100 EDID including the EDID of the last attached monitor. 50 memory slots are factory preset, covering the most common display resolutions and refresh rates. If you can't find the resolution you are looking for, then you can use 50 user programmable memory slots. You can either connect a display device and learn its EDID or you can edit and upload a custom EDID from your PC using Lightware Matrix Controller software and Advanced EDID Editor.

A built-in cable equalizer circuit on DVI input automatically compensates for up to 60 meters of DVI copper cable so it can also be used as a stand-alone Cable Extender.

DA2DVI-Pro also features Lightware's Pixel Accurate Reclocking Technology, which eliminates the worst enemies of long distance digital transmission: intra-pair skew, inter-pair skew and jitter. After passing the DA2DVI-Pro, the signal can be transmitted to another 60 meters or more. This feature, combined with a one input / two output distribution amplifier, mean the DA2DVI-Pro is well-suited for digital signage applications.

Two options are available for controlling the DA2DVI-Pro: front/rear panel manual control or software control via USB port using Lightware Matrix Controller.
