EnqiiEnQii Holdings and Minicom Digital Signage (MDS) merge companies to create a global leader in multichannel message management and a platform in a complex marketplace.

“This is an exciting milestone for the industry as it creates a true global powerhouse providing an integrated suite of hardware, software and services required for the best digital signage deployments going forward,” says Ajay Chowdhury, CEO of the new venture and former CEO of EnQii. “I am particularly excited with our new solutions such as IP Streaming, mobile and web linkages and the ability to provide proof of performance for signage networks.”

Headquartered in New York City, EnQii-MDS will operate from six offices around the world and a global network of dedicated partners that includes 150 worldwide distributors serving thousands of resellers and system integrators.

“This strategic move creates a powerful vertical solution in an industry that has been plagued by complexity,” states Ronni Guggenheim, President of EnQii-MDS and former CEO of Minicom Digital Signage. “This gives us a deeper base to continue to provide compelling innovations in this rapidly growing industry to our current and future partners across the globe.”

Led by a veteran team of industry innovators, EnQii-MDS sets a new standard that will provide focused expertise that larger players cannot deliver. In addition to the officers previously mentioned, Shlomo Nimrodi, has been named Chairman. Stuart Armstrong and Amir Shaked have been tapped to lead the US business and Max Stevens-Guille will lead the Canadian business. In Israel Ofer Dar will act as the Group’s CFO, Moti Guberman will be in charge of operations and Mordehay Hilu will drive the R&D.

Gadi Tirosh, General Partner at JVP and Chairman of MDS concluded: “When we invested in MDS over a year ago, we clearly identified the potential of leveraging MDS’ unique market position and channels as a platform for further growth -- organically and through M&A. This merger is the realization of this strategy creating the most prominent, fastest growing market leader.”

EnQii-MDS will provide marketers with an end-to-end solution encompassing distribution, content management and proof-of-performance - while reducing capital and operational costs.

DOOH-it

Global DOOH revenue generated by digital place-based network, billboard and signage operators, grew 16.3% to $6.47 billion in 2010-- and is projected to expand 16.9% in 2011, according to PQ Media.

PQ Media defines the global DOOH sector through two major platform segments – digital place-based networks (DPN) and digital billboards & signage (DBB) – and six venue and location categories, including cinema, retail, office, entertainment, transit and roadside.

Global digital place-based networks (DPN) revenue, the larger of the two platforms, grew 14.5% to $5.06 billion in 2010, driven by strong double-digit rebounds from the 2009 malaise in key leading markets in all four major regions – Americas, Europe, Asia/Pacific, and MEA. USA (still world's largest overall DOOH and DPN market) as well as Brazil, the UK, Russia, China and India expanded at double-digit rates in 2010. These markets are expected to post similar growth again in 2011 and PQ Media projects global DPN revenue will increase 15.2%.

Meanwhile, global DBB revenue growth jumped 23.2% in 2010 to $1.41 billion, fuelled by accelerated double-digit growth in all four regions. USA, UK and emerging BRIC markets each produced faster double-digit growth in 2010 and are projected to generate similar increases in 2011, when PQ Media anticipates global DBB revenue will rise 23.1%. DBB in USA is expected grow at an accelerated 18.8% in 2011, fuelled by gains in all four location categories, primarily roadside, the largest.

MultiSync X551UN

Maybe you saw the demos at ISE? Produced in conjunction with NEC Laboratories in Heidelberg, NEC showed demonstrations of Virtually Me and Heatmap, to prove how sensors can be used real-time for audience measurement, interactive digital signage and targeted advertisement.

"Static billboards and signage is rapidly being replaced by sophisticated digital signage, which can be interactive, responsive and real-time.” says Stefanie Corinth, VP Marketing & Business Development at NEC Display Solutions Europe. “Combined with the foray into the rapidly growing European DOOH sector, NEC is developing a range of products and solutions that ensures we remain a pioneer in all aspects of display technology."

Attendees got a hands-on look at:

  • NEC’s MultiSync X551UN that made its global debut on the ISE stand. With the slimmest bezel on an LCD video wall product, this ultra-thin, 1920 x 1080 resolution display will, for the first time, introduce a direct LED backlight solution for video wall applications with planned image transitions of just 5.7 mm. Visitors also saw the new high-end MultiSync X461S and X551S displays, each with LED backlighting and equipped with pro public display panels.
  • The Virtually Me and Heatmap showcase highlights how sensors can be used in real-time for audience measurement, interactive digital signage and targeted advertisement. The demos are based on the CMF (Context Management Framework) sensor middleware technology from the NEC European Laboratories and have been integrated with Instoremedia's Digital Signage platform.
