Along with the DepthQ HDs3D-1 Stereoscopic Projector and new DepthQ Player software, Lightspeed Design showed its DepthQ Polarization Modulators at both InfoComm and Cine Europe.

When combined with a silver screen, the DepthQ Polarization Modulator allows a digital cinema projector to display stereoscopic 3D films, viewable using inexpensive passive circular polarized glasses. Paired with projectors up to 18.5K ANSI Lumens, DepthQ provides a “spectacular” 3D experience for screens up to 13.7m (45 feet). DepthQ meets Hollywood’s image quality standards by varying the polarity of light passing through it in perfect synch with the “tripleflash” of left and right eye images. “An unprecedented symmetrical 50 microsecond switching time between the eyes ensures bright, low-crosstalk operation,” says the company.

The new DepthQ Polarization Modulator for 3D Digital Cinema (DCI) was first introduced at Cinemacon in March of this year. As well as being successfully reviewed by executives from six major studios, it is now listed on Walt Disney Studios Approved 3D Equipment List.

The DepthQ Polarization Modulator for Advanced 3D Visualization comes in two sizes, large (up to 18.5K lumens) and small (up to 4K lumens) and is currently in use for conference presentations, event marketing, trade shows, industrial applications, e-Cinemas, simulators, themed entertainment venues and academic institutions.

This supports 3D screen sizes from 2m -13.7m. No moving parts - low cost/maintenance. Works with all DLP 3D ready projectors. And it’s compatible with standard circular polarized 3D glasses.

A two-position actuator allows easy switch between 2D and 3D (standard for DCI, optional for all other models)
