The hooligan taste for BBQ-ing autos may be stealing international headlines about Berlin, but city residents had far more important things to think about.
50 years after the division into East and West Berlin, the Berlin Wall Foundation marked the anniversary with a memorial ceremony, remembering the victims of the division of Berlin and Germany. At the Berlin Wall Memorial, an extensive programme of readings, exhibitions and film screenings was part of the commemorative event.
To help with the ceremonies, Sharp included a world premiere for its new high-brightness display at the memorial ceremony: the official market launch of their PN-V602will not take place until October.
It took a16 m2 video wall— built from the latest generation of Sharp monitors—to give visitors a clear, HD quality view of the events on stage. The video wall, comprising 16 monitors from the new high-brightness PN-V602 series showed the historical footage from the 1950s and 1960s ( Divided City, Divided Country) in the open-air cinema.
The important documentary film compiled from private film material relating to 13 August 1961, Mauerhaft(a play on words in German between the words for “wall”, “imprisonment” and “permanent”), was also shown on the Sharp video wall.
“Our new PN-V602 high-brightness display is especially suitable for use in bright surroundings,” declares Peter Heins, Product and R&D Manager at Sharp Electronics Europe. “Thanks to its extremely high brightness of 1500 candelas and an impressive colour depth, the monitor delivers high-contrast, brightly lit images, even in sunlight…”
The very thin bezel, measuring 6.5 mm, and the additional mirror frames which reflect the display content mean that the transitions between the individual displays are almost invisible and therefore ensure a more or less continuous image.
The Sharp PN-V602 also has a local dimming function to guarantee an outstanding contrast ratio and extremely high brightness with especially low energy consumption (and energy saving of 30% to 40% to be achieved, depending on the picture content). The local dimming function also results in a very high-contrast picture with “deep blacks and brilliant whites”.
