Customer Profile:
The Eiffel Tower is one of the most visited monuments in the world and attracts around seven million visitors each year.
With an increasing number of visitors, the SETE wanted to improve the digital signage and provide better services to its customers.
The project:
The Eiffel Tower had already 4 LED screens, those were obsolete.
The challenge was to keep the existing housings without modification and to incorporate our LED screens.
Our screens were preferred because they require no ventilation thanks to the use of specific power supplies. This eliminates the need of fans air filters and laborious cleaning. Additionally, we had to be compatible with the software currently used by the Eiffel Tower.
For this project we have chosen to work with a pixel pitch of 10mm physical to ensure the best visual quality and an excellent brightness. The choice of our ALS 1005 was logical.

- Height: 2,56 m x 0,96 m
- Resolution: 256 x 96 pixels
- Brightness: 6000 nits
To meet the second objective and eliminate numerous maintenance operations, we have combined our passively cooled power supplies with a cooling plate.
Success factors:
Several elements have enabled us to win this project.
- The ability to respond to custom projects as we alreday demonstrated, such as the installation of a screen of 200m² on the first floor of the Eiffel Tower during World Cup Rugby 2007.
- Our technical solutions including passive cooling, this remains an exclusivity of ARCH.
- The compatibility of our ARCH software with other software.
- The guaranteed quality of our products.
Installation:
We had beforehand assembled in our workshop, all LED modules on an aluminium frame.
On site, the first step consisted in the complete disassembly of the previous screens. Once the old screen was removed, the new frame made was put in its place in the housing. The first objective was therefore achieved: a screen fitting perfectly in the existing housings.
Then, four 220V power supplies and four cooling plates were mounted on each door of the cabinet. This solution provides a passive cooling which led to removal of all fans previously used. The second objective was met.
The wiring and installation of the server finalized the installation.
This complex installation (removal, installation) was completed in just two nights by 4 technicians from ARCH.
Conclusion
