Pixled F-9

Belgium-based LED screen specialist Pixled expands its F-6 European Cross Rental Network, with recent sales of over 400 square metres of its high resolution product.

F-6 product, in combination with the Mitsubishi HD processor, has been delivered to the following market leaders in their countries : Stealth 7 LLC in Russia; Smart Choice Ltd. from Portugal; Visiontools GmbH from Germany; Irish-based Mongey Communications Ltd.-- and also the XL Video Group headquartered in Belgium. All are involved in some of the highest profile and most innovative shows and installations in Europe.

Pixled's Cross Rental Network is business strategy formulated to enable AV and visuals rental companies to seamlessly cross-rent equipment within Europe for larger projects.

General manager Bart Van der Beken says, "Cross rental is definitely the way forward. Everyone is impressed with the build quality, the fast and easy rigging and the superb Mitsubishi processing option on the F-6, plus all the extra features like its curvability and the ability to remove LED strips, all of which combine to make it an incredibly creative visual design tool."

Following the success of Pixled F-6, the F-9 (shown here) will be launched at PLASA next month. It is identical to the F-6—except for the pitch-- and is fully mechanically compatible. Like the F-6, this will also be available in 2000 and 4000 Nit versions.

DepthQ Polarization Modulator

DepthQ PM

Along with the DepthQ HDs3D-1 Stereoscopic Projector and new DepthQ Player software, Lightspeed Design showed its DepthQ Polarization Modulators at both InfoComm and Cine Europe.

When combined with a silver screen, the DepthQ Polarization Modulator allows a digital cinema projector to display stereoscopic 3D films, viewable using inexpensive passive circular polarized glasses. Paired with projectors up to 18.5K ANSI Lumens, DepthQ provides a “spectacular” 3D experience for screens up to 13.7m (45 feet). DepthQ meets Hollywood’s image quality standards by varying the polarity of light passing through it in perfect synch with the “tripleflash” of left and right eye images. “An unprecedented symmetrical 50 microsecond switching time between the eyes ensures bright, low-crosstalk operation,” says the company.

The new DepthQ Polarization Modulator for 3D Digital Cinema (DCI) was first introduced at Cinemacon in March of this year. As well as being successfully reviewed by executives from six major studios, it is now listed on Walt Disney Studios Approved 3D Equipment List.

The DepthQ Polarization Modulator for Advanced 3D Visualization comes in two sizes, large (up to 18.5K lumens) and small (up to 4K lumens) and is currently in use for conference presentations, event marketing, trade shows, industrial applications, e-Cinemas, simulators, themed entertainment venues and academic institutions.

This supports 3D screen sizes from 2m -13.7m. No moving parts - low cost/maintenance. Works with all DLP 3D ready projectors. And it’s compatible with standard circular polarized 3D glasses.

A two-position actuator allows easy switch between 2D and 3D (standard for DCI, optional for all other models)

1000-lumen Projector with Wavien Engine

Wavien light engine

On its InfoComm stand, Wavien showed a production prototype of a 1000-lumen projector to be manufactured and sold by AAXA Technologies, Inc. This new projector uses Wavien's proprietary DPR light engine, and Wavien claims it “outperforms LED projectors by producing 1000 lumens of brightness and a lifetime of 25,000 hours at the cost of a conventional desktop projector.”

AAXA, founded in 2008, is a developer and distributor of a new class of projector known as "micro" projectors and "pico" projectors.

"Wavien's DPR light engine provides a maintenance-free light source for projectors suitable for home theater/gaming applications, classrooms and small conference rooms. It outperforms LED projectors, providing a higher output, smaller footprint and longer lifetime, at a lower cost," states Dr. Kenneth Li, President and CEO of Wavien, Inc., who is also the inventor of the DPR technology.

"The maintenance-free features of LED and hybrid projectors created expectations in consumers that all state-of-the-art projectors should use those technologies. We have identified a void in the market for affordably priced projectors with a screen brightness of about 1000 lumens. LED projector outputs are too low, and hybrid projectors are costly," adds Gary Huang, VP Sales and Marketing at AAXA.

Wavien, based in California, is a technology licensing company developing long-life, high-performance light sources and engine prototypes for the projection and general lighting industries. Wavien currently offers its unique "Dual Paraboloid Reflector" ("DPR") technology using ultra-high-pressure arc lamps for education and business uses, and xenon lamps for cinema projectors.

C SEED 201 TV

In its world premiere, the C SEED 201 TV takes high-tech TV onto the outdoors with a 201-inch (5.11m) 16:9 LED screen. But this is more than just a big screen…

You can direct the performance by radio remote control. You press a button to raise up the screen to the desired height from its hidden shaft in the ground and then rotate it to a maximum of 270 degree angle for optimal viewing comfort.

The C SEED 201 column takes 15 seconds to achieve its full height of 4.65 m (15 ft). After the next 25 seconds, 7 massive LED panels soundlessly unfold. A TV tech sculpture now dominates the outdoor scene…

Designed by Porsche Design Studio, The C SEED 201 grew out of a passion to deliver the ultimate outdoor LED TV…

Instead of taking up space when not in use, the C SEED 201 folds up and retreats below ground, where it stays safe and dry in its water-resistant shaft. Only to rise again…and again…and again…

Buckaroo

And the winners are…it’s time again for the Buckaroo Awards, those annual InfoComm best-of-show awards from Pacific Media Associates. The Buckaroo award is named after the pioneering cowboys of the Great Basin country of the American West (parts of California, Nevada, Idaho, and Oregon). These cowboys were known for fancy gear that displayed lots of silver ornamentation, so the name is fits as recognition of products that produce the best-looking pictures. The Buckaroo Awards recognize those products in the front projector category that lead the herd by enabling projection of attractive images in a broad range of situations.

Says PMA: “Although data-capable front projectors using digital imager chip technology such as 3LCD, DLP, or LCOS date from 1994, the industry has made giant strides in technology, yielding giant improvements in brightness, resolution, color gamut, and a host of other features and performance measures.”
