 XTRA Series XPA 4002

Extron Electronics announces the immediate availability of the XTRA Series XPA 4002 two channel power amplifier.

This compact 1U, convection cooled amplifier delivers 400 watts rms per channel into 4 ohms or 200 watts per channel into 8 ohms. The XPA 4002 replaces the XPA 2002 amplifier at the same price. It is an Energy Star-qualified amplifier with an advanced Class D amplifier design.

The XPA 4002 also features patented CDRS - Class D Ripple Suppression technology that provides a smooth, clean audio waveform, which Extron says is an improvement in signal fidelity over conventional Class D amplifiers. It is half the size of comparable amplifiers, conserving rack space and weighing only 9 pounds (4 kilograms).

The XPA 4002 includes an auto power-down feature that automatically places the amplifier into standby after a period of inactivity, and consumes 30 watts or less when idle and less than 1 watt in standby mode. It also has an ultra low inrush current draw to prevent power circuit overload that occurs when multiple amplifiers are switched on simultaneously. Extron says this feature eliminates the need for power sequencing in systems with multiple amplifiers in large centralized equipment racks, and prevents other equipment from experiencing power interruption from associated power surges.

Additionally, the XPA 4002 amplifier features very low thermal dissipation under full load, which keeps racks and equipment racks cool.

BrightSign AU32

The global market leader in digital signage players (31.6% according to IMS Research) announces the BrightSign AU320, a commercial audio distribution product. The AU320 is a networkable audio solution that integrates messaging playback and background music in retail outlets and other commercial settings.

BrightSign AU320 functions as standalone audio device, but also integrates with digital signage installations for a complete audio/videosolution.

“While people don’t often realise it consciously, audio is pervasive in commercial settings and it directly influences our frame of mind when we’re visiting those businesses,” says Jeff Hastings, BrightSign CEO.

The AU320 is a scalable solution that enables everything from simple background music to single-zone audio that integrates with and complements even the most robust digital signage implementations. It can be used in countless applications with unique requirements – picture a tour bus company that wants to loop specific audio tracks when geo-location features of the BrightSign product indicate the bus is moving within a certain geographical radius.

In addition to background music, the BrightSign audio device delivers an inaudible, high frequency sound that is detected by a popular mobile app on shoppers’ mobile phones, initiating the push of discounts and other promotions to customers while they shop. This non-intrusive form of real-time, location-based marketing demonstrates how commercial audio players are being used for much more than just music delivery.

BrightSign AU320 will be available in August 2012.

Extron Quantum Cards

Extron Electronics is now shipping HDMI Input and Output Cards which add HDMI connectivity and HDCP compliance to the Extron Quantum Elite Videowall Processing System.

These cards enable presentation of Blu-ray Disc, digital satellite or cable, and other HDCP-encrypted sources on HDCP-compliant displays. The Quantum HDMI Input Cards accept two HDMI inputs at resolutions up to 1920x1200 and HDTV 1080p/60. The Quantum HDMI Output Cards include two HDMI outputs for driving two video wall displays at resolutions up to 1920x1200 and HDTV 1080p/60, and display up to 128 windows per output card.

The input and output cards feature high performance scaling technology to optimize real-time image processing and ensure high quality image presentation on videowall displays. The Quantum Connect videowall processor is also available in HDCP-compliant system configurations.

The Quantum Elite and Quantum Connect are video wall processing systems that allow for multi-image presentations in demanding, mission-critical environments. Extron says it features high performance, dedicated graphics and video processing, plus a high-speed video bus that maintains real-time performance under heavy input loading.

The Quantum Elite and Quantum Connect can simultaneously display hundreds of source windows of high quality graphics and video. The Quantum Series supports video wall system sizes from small to very large in environments including public spaces, corporate buildings, surveillance, visualization, and command and control.

 Enable-IT 828

Now, for just a few hundred euro, integrators can use an all-in-one Gigabit solution to blow past Ethernet’s 100m distance limit (328 feet). For example in IP security, you can deploy multiple far off HD IP cameras out to 240 m (800 feet) away, through a single unit, or up to 610m (2000 feet)away, in series or tree.

Ethernet Extension Experts brings out the Enable-IT 828 with three built-in PoE Gigabit Ethernet ports and a ruggedized aluminum case, along with options for PoE injection via Midspans, and standalone injectors.
