Taiwan-based VNS will feature the latest GeoBox video control solutions at ISE 2020, with a range of standalone one-box controllers designed to control video wall content and multiple edge-blending output from multiple projectors.

All GeoBox solutions are hardware-based and control digital content from "any input in any format," with no need for a separate PC. In addition, multiple, cascading GeoBoxes can control unlimited displays and projectors. VNS also added 8K capability across the GeoBox range, with native support for 8K/1K inputs or 1K/8K inputs at 30Hz. Set for debut at ISE 2020, edge-blending projection solutions will benefit in particular, with 8K/1K support allowing the creation of uncomplicated 8K multi-projector projection system.

Another ISE 2020 debut involves the edge-blending range, the GeoBox M800. Available in 2 versions, the M800 and M800EX, the solutions boast more powerful processing, allowing installers to implement digital mapping and edge-blending without need for embedded projectors or media servers. GeoBox edge-blending projects have all functions embedded, meaning installers can crop images, set overlap pixels, edge-blend and automaticall adjust images using any projector. Multiple daisy-chained GeoBoxes can create truly immersive experiences.

Also on show is the G413, a flexible solution for the control of multiple video wall displays at any angle, without need for additional software. A final solution is a 4k/2k @60Hz input and output front-end processor, the G901. Ideal for large-scale display, video wall and multple projector applications, it carries x3 HDMI 2.0, x2 DisplayPort 1.4 and x1 HDMI 2.0 outputs ports, and delivers high-end scaling with true 10-bit colour and 10-bit processing, PIP/POP, image rotation/flip, image anyplace cropping, flexible aspect ratio adjustments and create video wall functionality.

Modulo Pi announces the Modulo Player and Modulo Kinetic series will be on show at ISE 2020, with both media servers getting further enhancements in order to allow the effortless creation of visual experiences in any type of application.

The Modulo Player is a user-friendly media server designed for everyday projects. It combines the capabilities of a media server and a low-latency live mixer. Exclusive features, including X-Map for advanced 2D warping, playlist management and embedded show control capabilities, make it both a versatile and cost-effective solution fitting the needs of a variety of projects. In addition, over 40 new devices can interact with the Modulo Player, including NDI PTZ cameras and a series of USB phidgets such as controllers, sensors, motors, GPIO and RFID tags.

Meanwhile the Modulo Kinetic is a high-end fully integrated media server for video playback, real-time 3D, interactivity and tracking. ISE 2020 sees the introduction of KineMotion, an optical tracking module designed for state-of-the-art creative and interactive visual experiences. Combined with the capabilities of Modulo Kinetic, such as the 3D particle engine, nodal editor and timeline sequencer, KineMotion unlocks further opportunities for creative and interactive visual experiences, including projection on moving objects, particle drawing and tracking, automatic follow spot and light painting, among others.

Finally, the low-latency live mixer embedded in the Modulo Player and KineMotion offers full support of the Elgato Stream Deck and Stream Deck XL control pads. Modulo Pi media servers and embedded mixer support any number of Stream Deck pads simultaneously, providing a user-friendly solution to control presets or recall tasks.

MediaStar Solutions at ISE 2020

Cabletime Mediastar

Cabletime presents a range of features and enhancements to the MediaStar IPTV, streaming and digital signage range at ISE 2020, including the MediaStar 798 encoders and 782 decoders able to distribute HDCP Pro protected content in a legally compliant manner.

The company says signage is a key theme for ISE 2020. As such, MediaStar highlights will include support for leading digital signage cloud platforms and the ability to run protected and legal live content within signage applications as well as the MediaStar Creator and DS signage platform.

The MediaStar Media Player features more extensive HTML 5 support and integration with 3rd party applications, including "Way Finding" apps, while MediaStar Media Manager features full internationalisation options for non-Western character sets. This allows customers to control using the language of choice.

Another big focus on the MediaStar stand involves secure solutions for protected content to the desktop and updates to the recaster and transcoder platform customers can use for audio as well as video transcoding.

Visix Intros Ultra-Small Nano Player

Visix Nano

The Visix digital signage hardware offering gets a Nano player-- an ultra-small form factor appliance purpose-built to provide reliable 1080p playback for digital signs, measuring just 17 centimetres square.

“This is our smallest player yet, and it can fit anywhere,” the company claims. “Our customers are looking for compact, economical solutions for their signage installations. This is a perfect player for less video-intensive applications, that still demand highly reliable performance.”

The Nano player includes 64GB eMMC storage, 4GB LPDDR4 memory and support for both wired and wireless networking. Powering it is an Intel Apollo Lake Celeron N3350 processor, and it comes with a Kensington security port.

NEC Display Adds Playback Solutions

NEC Slot-in-PC

NEC Display Solutions Europe launches a range of digital signage devices for media playback and IT operations, including a series of slot-in-PCs based on the NEC Open Modular Intelligence (OMI) platform.

The OPS Slot-in-PC is an embedded computer able to support uses ranging from static content playback to demanding, interactive and high-resolution applications. It can handle anything from retail and digital-out-of-home (DooH) advertising to food and beverage menu boards, transportation wayfinding and information screens and digital cinema posters, among other use cases.

The devices are based on 7th generation Intel Core processor technology, including Core i3, i5 and even the most powerful i7 processors. Device installation, usage and maintenance is simplified, making it easier to upgrade digital signage equipment, and high levels of customisation enable custom-made solutions perfectly matched to individual demands.

NEC Display Solutions also has two other products-- the OPS value Slot-in-PC featuring a quad-core Atom processor and the External Micro PC.

The External Micro PC features a similar processor to the Entry version, but is designed to support standalone operation with displays lacking an OPS slot, or multiple displays relying on a single playout system.
